Stopped in with some friends for one drink and ended up trying several off the menu and a few personally curated from Julian. He was very knowledgeable and inviting. We also spoke with the owner and he too was very welcoming, as well as the rest of the staff. The atmosphere was sophisticated and stylish, something different than other bars in the area. Price point on drinks was very fair for the high quality. This is definitely a new favorite in Old Town and excited to bring more friends back to try other cocktails and listen to live music!

Didn't try the food. But the atmosphere and service is great. It's clean, relaxed, and you can have a conversation without having to yell. The bartenders are nice with a great sense of humor. If you're feeling adventurous, let them decide your drink. They do very well.

Great place. Awesome drinks. Dirty martini fans, Julian makes an experience you need to share in. Excellent new bar you need to to check out! Photo of smoked old fashioned. Also great.

This was by far the best downtown experience we’ve had in the last 5 years!! Love hanging out in local places. Drinking responsibly and they also have great non alcoholic selection. My #1 bar in Wichita, Kansas.

James Rye in Wichita, KS, is an absolute gem! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this craft cocktail bar, and it’s quickly become our favorite spot. The drinks are nothing short of phenomenal—each one is a work of art, perfectly balanced and bursting with unique flavors. The atmosphere is spot-on, with a cozy yet vibrant vibe that makes you want to linger all night. But the real stars are the bartenders—they’re incredibly talented, friendly, and make you feel right at home. Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur or just looking for a great night out, James Rye is a must-visit. We’re already counting down to our next visit!

The lounge has an elegant and inviting ambiance. The staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, offering insightful recommendations that catered perfectly to my taste. Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the drinks. I had the pleasure of trying a couple different cocktails. The first was the O’Hare. It was a masterpiece in itself. It was a perfect testament to the mixologist's skill and creativity of The Old Fashioned. The presentation was as impressive , fresh rosemary a cubed ice and the smoke , making it just as much a visual delight. This is definitely at the top of the list for best Old Fashioned in the ICT area . Next, I tried the James. A mix of tea and bourbon, two of my favorite things to drink. The simple blend of flavors was a delightful journey for the palate, with hints of mint and lime that added depth and freshness to each sip. Overall, the diversity and inventiveness of the cocktails make it a standout destination for anyone looking to explore sophisticated and unique drinks. Whether you're a seasoned cocktail consumer or simply looking to enjoy a high-quality beverage, this is a must-visit. I’m already looking forward to my next visit and trying the Espresso martinis (they offer two) and the Dirty one! PS… Food isn’t on the menu but they have food trucks scheduled and parked out front on certain days.

This bar was a great find for us. Wife discovered it from a hat painting & drinks event there. We are from out town. We now regularly make a run to ICT & hit this bar. Bring friends with us. Wednesdays are perfect. Pizzas & some craft beers at River City Brewery, then around the corner for some FINE drinks at James & Rye. Friendly staff & owner. Great place, worth checking out.

Wow, what a great bar! All the attitude of a new bar but opened 8 months prior. My wife and I went together on 1/28. We were NOT disappointed. I ordered the Rye, which was half off on Wednesdays, and the bartender asked my wife what she wanted and made it to her specific tastes. Taking the time to listen specifically to her means a lot. Over the next hour, we ate an amazing charcuterie board, free popcorn, drank a slightly sweeter Old Fashioned, and another Rye. Bartender, 'King' Julian, sat with us and updated us on everything that was going on. It was our first visit, and it felt first day opening, kind of special. Julian listened to Ideas, thoughts and just random conversations that popped into my head. He could have passed as a part owner and operator. His ownership of his craft, local business employee, and personality, are bar none. He is one that really sets the bar on how to treat customers. Was a bit chilly and the other bartender saw me standing under the warm vent, and offered to move our Bartop over so that we would be more comfortable while seated. Minimal food available, but they do bring in the charcuterie boards regularly. 100% everywhere else!

Had an absolutely fantastic experience at James & Rye in Wichita, KS! Julian, the bartender, was phenomenal. His drink making skills are top-notch, crafting cocktails that were both creative and delicious. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure every customer felt welcomed. The owner Bobby, was also hands-on helping out behind the bar and ensuring everyone was taken care of. The vibe is calm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing night out. Their happy hour specials are an absolutely fantastic making it even easier to love this place. Highly recommend!
